Tacomepai organic farm

Just 6k outside Pai is a little organic farm where Dylan and I are staying called Tacomepai. Dylan is leaving to go home in a week on the 28th and I will continue to travel!

A couple days before we arrive at the farm Dylan and I got sick! Dylan was okay after one night of throwing up but I continued to have belly aches after eating. After six days of not eating and 13 pounds lighter, I decide to go to the hospital.
We walked with our packs 30 min outside of town to the hospital to learn that the ER takes an hour break for lunch.
Finally after a whole day of waiting I saw a doctor who gave me magic pills. And BAM I was better.

After our first (and hopefully last) Thai hospital experience we hitch hiked a ride to Tacomepai farm!!

This is my house! It sits on top bamboo
On the right is my bathroom. Yes it is super scarry having to pee at night!

And this is my view
It is truly amazing to wake up in a tree! I love it!

Of corse Dylan has found a puppy. This little pup girl is named Tara.

I have been doing a lot of cooking and baking every day! It's a challenge to feed 15-30 people three times a day!
This is a picture of a typical meal on the farm! It's pumpkin/carrot soup with a mixed green salad with a cilantro/garlic dressing.  And homemade bread!!

This is the oven. And the small thing in front of it with the tea kettle on it is the stove! If you want to eat you better be able to make a fire (or have Dylan do it for you!)

This is a vegan chocolate/carrot cake. With a lime icing that I made.

I plan to stay on the farm for two more weeks.
There is a farm close by that is just starting and needs help. So I will say here and ride my bike over there. This will be a better opportunity to learn about permaculture and how to start an organic farm.

More adventure to come!!

Pie in Pai?

This past week Dyl and I have been exploring a small village outside of Chian Mai, called Pai.
We have been hiking, swimming in the river, exploring wat's (temples), and of course eating delicious Thai food!

Exploring the canyon!

Wat!? Wat!? ... Another Wat:

Little Green man at the top of the stairs:

Maybe we will bring her home to be Nalu's friend!

Strawberry farm! (Aka bathroom break)

...so clean you could eat off it:

And a perfect photo opportunity:

Strawberry selfie:

This was the sunset view from out first hostel. But we moved down the hill because that place cost too much (250 baht/ $7 US)

This is the view from our new place! $3 and free breakfest... Score!

Today we looked at a couple farming places to work/live at for the next week. We fell in love with Tacomepai! We will go there in a couple days! The farm is 100% sustainable and the owner is a permaculture teacher! We are very excited to get our hands dirty again and learn about permaculture!

Stay tuned...more adventures to come!

Mindful farmers!

After we left my parents, Dyl and I headed up north for a week to work on an organic farm!

This is the view from our hut:
The first day at mindful farm was spent meditating... For 12 hours! But they put us to work for the next few days. We were busy planting, watering, harvesting and building a mud brick house!

During the afternoon we had free time I spent my time making bread, taking a dip in the river or reading. Dyl liked walking to the store to get ice cream, taking naps and helping to prepare dinner.

This is the bamboo hut we stayed in:

The owner of the farm Pi Nan invited us to some community events. We celebrated New Years (again! On the 8th!)

and attended a traditional Thai wedding!

Dyl is wishing the couple good luck and tying their hands together

... More adventures to come as we head over to beautiful Pai today!

Temple on the hill!

Today we visited wat phrathat doi suthep or the temple on the hill.

Walking up the steps into the temple is said to bring good luck! And many people wanted some luck for the new year:

Beautiful door on the back side of the temple:

Awwwww baby Buddha:
